Since Saturday, Mattia Bellucci has beaten three players in three days; on Wednesday he plays his sixth match in two weeks at the Paris Masters. Across the net, Arthur Rinderknech has lost that rhythm: since the Davis Cup in mid-September he has played only Basel and Monday’s first round, which ended with Cerúndolo’s retirement. This match sits between the fatigue of a full fortnight and the freshness of a comeback.
Three wins in three days to come through qualifying
The Italian left-hander, ranked 66th, beat Carreño Busta 6-1 7-6 and Tirante 6-4 6-4 to come through qualifying, then handled Lorenzo Sonego 6-4 6-3 on Monday, his first main-draw win in Paris. Behind that sits a Challenger title in Jinan in mid-October and nine wins in his last ten matches. The qualifier arrives with the tennis of confidence: a serve that holds and a return game that bites.
Rinderknech is coming back from a long way
The Frenchman tore a muscle playing doubles in Beijing in early October, withdrew from Beijing and then Shanghai, and is letting the roughly 650 points from his 2025 Shanghai final slip away: out of the top 50. Back in Basel at the end of October, he lost to Kym, then on Monday he ground out a round: 3-6 down against Cerúndolo, he took the second set in a tie-break before Cerúndolo’s back gave way at 2-0 in the third, after 1h39 of play. It is his first win since the US Open, after four straight defeats.
What the stats sheet says
| Bellucci | Rinderknech | |
|---|---|---|
| Service games held (last 10 matches) | 88.4% | 78.5% |
| Record over the last 10 matches | 9 wins, 1 loss | 3 wins, 7 losses |
| Matches played since mid-September | 10 | 2 |
| Last match | Monday (6-4 6-3) | Monday (ended on a retirement) |
The gap in service games held, indoors, weighs more than anything else on the sheet. One reservation: Rinderknech’s ten matches almost all predate the tear, and his Monday lasted one hour thirty-nine.
The Italian price, the French doubt
Bellucci is priced at 1.75 with Unibet, Rinderknech at 2.20 with Betway: the market gives the Italian just over a coin flip, while the French federation had its man “slightly favourite” before the first round. The tour’s calculations lean much further towards Bellucci: they see neither the tear nor the rust, only the serving gap. The one factual counterweight is their only previous meeting, on hard in Atlanta in 2024, won by Rinderknech.
My pick: Bellucci -1.5 games at 1.96 with Unibet
This bet asks Bellucci to finish with at least two games in hand, whatever the score in sets. I give him a 55% chance of doing it: he wins more than one return game in four over his last ten matches (26.6%), he has the rhythm of winning, and he faces the serve of a man six weeks out of the game. Two things hold me back: an hour and a half of match play can be enough to wake a big server up, and the Frenchman’s freshness is real. The 1.96 price implies barely more than a coin flip: I see no clear edge over the market, and the site’s stake says so.

- Won (+$48.00): Bellucci finishes the match with at least two games in hand, whatever the score in sets. A double 7-6 (14-12) is enough.
- Lost (-$50.00): Bellucci finishes one game or fewer ahead, or loses the match. A 6-4 3-6 6-4 (15-14) loses.
- Refunded: the match stops on a retirement or walkover.
