Le Mans – Monaco: fourteen years since the last duel, two attacks out of goals

Le Mans and Monaco meet in Ligue 1 for the first time, fourteen years after their last Ligue 2 duel. Two blunt attacks and a favourite back from Europe: I take under 3 goals, refunded at exactly 3, at 1.90 with 1xbet.

Le Mans and Monaco have not met since 17 May 2013 and a Ligue 2 from another era. On Sunday at the Stade Marie-Marvingt, matchday ten hands them their first ever meeting in the top flight, and it comes at the worst moment for both: one point from the last four league games for Le Mans, two for Monaco.

One goal in three games for the hosts

The newcomers sit 17th with seven points, and the week says it all: four league games without a win, one goal in the last three, and a club website describing a side “short of inspiration” after the Troyes defeat. The local press sees a punishing fixture run and a club heading for the drop if November goes badly. Patrick Videira has to plan around a crowded treatment room:

  • Djibril Sidibé, a fractured second metatarsal, out until the mid-November break;
  • Bourabaa, around three months out;
  • Colas (back) and Rossignol rested, Eyoum out.

Le Mans have won one of four home games. I expect this match to stay closed early on: Le Mans playing for a reaction in front of their own crowd, low block, set pieces, second balls.

Monaco is living its season in Europe

Seventh with fifteen points, Monaco have not won in the league for four games, with two goals from the last three. Filipe Luís put the defeat at Paris FC into one sentence: “the Paris FC was simply better than us”. And one awkward statistic before visiting a promoted club: Monaco are the only Ligue 1 side to have lost at least five times against promoted teams since 2024-25. Denis Zakaria, meanwhile, is going through what Nice-Matin calls a period of doubt.

The paradox lives in Europe: two Conference League wins, Nordsjælland at home on Thursday evening before the trip to Le Mans, and a schedule that closes Friday training to the public and delays the press conference to Saturday. Ansu Fati (hamstrings) and Idumbo-Muzambo (groin) are unavailable, Salisu has been left out, Balogun is back in the squad. Eric Dier stays a question mark, reported injured by one source and named in another source’s probable line-up: the official teamsheets answer that on Saturday.

At 1.80, the market still waits for a Monaco wake-up

The market has not followed the crisis: Monaco are still priced around 1.80 at best, the draw at 4.31, Le Mans at 4.50, numbers barely moved since they opened. In plain terms, the market gives Monaco slightly better than a one-in-two chance and does not believe in a home reaction.

The bet: under 3 goals, with line 3 as the safety net

I am leaving the winner alone. At 1.80, backing a tired Monaco is full price; at 4.50, nothing in the Le Mans season supports that punt. I take under 3 goals, refunded at exactly 3, at 1.90 with 1xbet.

Two teams that do not score do not suddenly play an open game: Le Mans will shut the wide areas, Monaco will be back from Europe with three days of recovery. I make this closed match 55% likely, where the 1.90 odds imply a touch over 52%.

The edge left after blending with the market is thin, so the stake stays at the floor: 0.25 units, $25, and the logic sits in our Kelly calculator. With 0, 1 or 2 goals, the bet wins $22.48 net; with exactly 3, the stake is refunded; beyond that, it loses. The scenario that would kill it: an early Monaco goal, Le Mans forced to open up, counters in the closing stages. This bet joins our public record like the others. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
