Borges vs Khachanov: the fresher man is already in the price
Nuno Borges has played six matches in eight days, qualifying included; Karen Khachanov comes from a first round cut short by Shapovalov's retirement. At 1.46 the price has weighed all of it: no bet.

Nuno Borges saw off Moïse Kouamé 6-3 6-1 in one hour and four minutes on Tuesday, the quietest round a lucky loser can hope for. The score is calm; the calendar is not: third match of his Paris week, sixth in eight days, Basel included. Karen Khachanov has barely played since 27 October. The order of play is now fixed: fourth rotation on Court 1 on Wednesday, behind three matches; if one of them drags, the start slides with it. This second round will be decided by the legs as much as by the ball.
Six matches in eight days, and an admission
His week, match by match:
| Date | Round | Opponent | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 26 Oct | Basel, first round | M. Brunold | W 6-3 6-1 |
| 28 Oct | Basel, last 16 | C. Ruud | W 1-6 6-3 6-4 |
| 30 Oct | Basel, quarter-finals | J-L. Struff | L 2-6 3-6 |
| 31 Oct | Paris, qualifying | A. Mannarino | W 4-6 6-1 7-5 |
| 1 Nov | Paris, qualifying | A. Molcan | L 6-7 2-6 |
| 3 Nov | Paris, first round | M. Kouamé | W 6-3 6-1 |
Between his Basel exit and the train to Paris he had less than 48 hours of rest, then two qualifying rounds on two days. The loss to Molcan left one door open, the lucky loser’s, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina’s withdrawal (back) pushed it open. He says so himself: he came into this tournament “already a bit worn down”, with a first qualifying set that was “very physical”. Six matches in eight days at this level do not wash away with one night of sleep. Nothing physical has been reported since, and Kouamé, off court in an hour, praised the level of the Portuguese: “very impressive”, “a level above”.
Across the net, fresh legs and a match to forget
Karen Khachanov won this tournament in 2018. On Monday he went through without finishing the job: Denis Shapovalov retired in the third set (right thigh) while leading 4-1. Two sets and a bit played in a week, against six matches for Borges over the same stretch: not enough to build a rhythm, plenty to keep fresh legs.
That first round was no demonstration, and Khachanov says it himself: he was “lucky”, Shapovalov “had taken control” of the match, and after dropping the second set he wanted to “let it go and walk off the court”. Fresh legs, yes; serenity, less sure. And the serve does not misfire: over his last ten matches Khachanov has held 83.5% of his service games, Borges 78.2%. Indoors, that gap gets paid back in the return games, one after the other.
Two meetings, never under a roof
Khachanov leads 2-0: Wimbledon in 2025, in five sets, and Roland Garros in 2022. Both were played on grass and clay, never indoors; they tell the level, not Wednesday’s conditions. On indoor hard the serve weighs more than anywhere else, and Borges breaks in barely more than one return game in four. Against the first serve across the net, the margin is thin.
At 1.46, the maths is already done
The market has done its sums: 1.46 on Khachanov with 1xbet, 2.80 on Borges with Betano on Tuesday evening. At those prices Khachanov gets about two chances in three. On service numbers alone I would see this match closer than that, and the state Khachanov was in on Monday points the same way; but freshness weighs a lot at the end of a week, and I come back to two in three. The same figure as the market, unmoved since the announcement.
I looked elsewhere: over 23.5 games at 2.06 with Unibet, Borges +2.5 games at 1.98 with 1xbet. Every line hands me the same verdict: what I compute matches what is on offer, with no gap to exploit. A bet without value does not deserve a stake, and the Kelly calculator would say the same.
So this page stays without a bet, and my public record will show nothing for this match. I will still watch it: Borges at the end of his week, a return game looking for a first serve, and very likely a tie-break or two along the way. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
