On Tuesday night Olympiacos came back from 28 points down in Valencia and won in overtime, 102-97. On Wednesday Tyler Dorsey, 15.8 points a game last season, was sent back to Athens over an Instagram post aimed at his own club. On Friday the reigning European champions walk into the Palau Blaugrana as 1.62 favourites. I am backing Barcelona with three and a half points.<\/p>\n

A historic comeback, a dressing room that simmers<\/h2>\n

Down 62-34 in Valencia on Tuesday, Olympiacos won 102-97 in overtime, tying the biggest comeback<\/a> in EuroLeague history (Prokom, 2012-13). Jean Montero, the former Valencia guard, finished with 26 points and a 35 valuation. Bartzokas was ejected on two technical fouls; his assistant Christos Pappas, nineteen years at his side, closed the game on the bench.<\/p>\n

The week then turned sour: Dorsey was dropped from the squad<\/a> for Barcelona and sent home; the club has since made it official, and Greek reports suggest he may have played his last game for the club. Bartzokas, for his part, keeps repeating that his side<\/a> is “far from what we all imagine we can play”. A 1.62 favourite flying in with an open crisis: the price does not seem to have counted it.<\/p>\n

Against all that, a Bar\u00e7a under construction: eleven new players this summer, Sekulic on the bench, a modest 3-2. The outlines are clear, though: 90-87 over Maccabi<\/a> on Tuesday at the Palau, on a Justin Robinson three with a second left; a single home defeat, 81-88 against Zalgiris on 9 October, after leading by ten at the start of the fourth. Nebo and Evbuomwan are back in the rotation (a half-hour between them against Maccabi), Minaya (adductor) and Makoundou (knee) are both out; Makoundou is looking at six weeks.<\/p>\n

Sekulic says it himself: his team barely trains between games. That shows late in matches, and late in matches is exactly where a +3.5 is won or lost.<\/p>\n

The market priced the badge, not the crisis<\/h2>\n

Olympiacos is a 1.62 favourite with BetMGM, a price that tightened on Wednesday morning, before the Dorsey decision; Barcelona trades at 2.43 with 1xbet. The main line, Barcelona +3.5, sits at 1.93 both ways. I make “Barcelona win or lose by three or fewer” 56% likely, against the market’s 50%: the Greek crisis does not look priced in.<\/p>\n
