Nobody in the ground saw the ball go in. Cameron Archer levelled (1-1), but the evening belongs to a goal that only faulty watches could validate.<\/p>\n<h2>A goal only the watches saw<\/h2>\n<p>No camera angle shows the ball fully behind the line; only the goal-line technology\u2019s 3D image claims it. Will Still went through it frame by frame <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sofoot.com\/breves\/auxerre-le-mans-will-still-en-veut-a-la-goal-line-technology\">on L1+<\/a>: what it shows is Nardi\u2019s glove, not the ball. Delajod checked the VAR and stood by his call. Nardi did not hold back: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.footmercato.net\/a5441161563489427115-on-a-eu-un-probleme-informatique-inedit-enorme-polemique-de-goal-line-entre-auxerre-et-le-mans\">\u201cI have the feeling, at 300 per cent, that it was not a goal\u201d<\/a>, before adding, almost smiling: \u201cmaybe the robots are better than humans\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>After the final whistle the officials told Still that only two of the four connected watches had buzzed, and spoke of an unprecedented \u201cIT problem\u201d. The tool brought in to end debates delivered its verdict in the middle of its own breakdown. Archer equalised in the 56th minute and it finished 1-1.<\/p>\n<h2>\u201cOnce again against us\u201d: Ciss\u00e9 is furious<\/h2>\n<p>Djibril Ciss\u00e9, Auxerre\u2019s attacking coach and a member of the club\u2019s board, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sofoot.com\/breves\/ligue-1-la-colere-de-djibril-cisse-suite-au-but-polemique-encaisse-par-laj-auxerre-face-au-mans\">let his anger out on social media<\/a>: \u201cAt what point did the ball go in? You have to stop the nonsense, guys. Once again against us. It is really starting to add up.\u201d The arithmetic matches his mood: without that goal, Auxerre would be two points better off and sitting in the top 10. They lie 12th on 10 points, Le Mans 15th on 7, and the run ends here with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lequipe.fr\/Football\/Actualites\/Auxerre-vise-un-quatrieme-succes-en-cinq-matches-de-ligue-1-face-au-mans\/1738324\">a fourth win in five league games<\/a> there for the taking.<\/p>\n<h2>Videira\u2019s son stayed on the bench<\/h2>\n<p>The match\u2019s other story was written before kick-off: Patrick Videira, Le Mans\u2019s head coach, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sofoot.com\/breves\/ligue-1-patrick-videira-convoque-son-fils-lenny-pour-le-deplacement-du-mans-a-auxerre\">called up his son Lenny<\/a> for the first time. A 20-year-old midfielder who can play holding or box-to-box, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lequipe.fr\/Football\/Actualites\/-si-vous-devez-lui-tirer-les-oreilles-n-hesitez-pas-lenny-videira-le-fils-de-l-entraineur-du-mans-lance-dans-le-grand-bain-a-auxerre\/1738370\">with spells at Ajaccio and Bastia<\/a> and roughly forty training sessions with the pros back in Ligue 2, Lenny sat on the bench and never came on: no minutes in Ligue 1 this season.<\/p>\n<p>Auxerre travel to Strasbourg on 1 November with an open question: goal-line technology, brought in to remove doubt, has just created plenty.
