Marseille vs Toulouse: Marseille rebuilding, Toulouse hard to beat
Team news settles: Abdallah listed absent, Gouiri and Hojbjerg expected for OM, Messali out until December. I keep Marseille to win at 1.98 with Betano, 0.25 units.

Two points separate them in the table, twelve against ten, and the market refuses to commit: Marseille host Toulouse on Sunday on day nine of Ligue 1 as cautious favourites, at 1.98. OM have won three league games in a row, against Troyes, Angers and then Le Havre, but came out of two European defeats without scoring, against Olympiakos at home and away to Sturm Graz. Toulouse have not lost in the league for four games, with that draw snatched at Monaco.
The 4-3 over Le Havre: relief and a telling-off
Last Sunday, OM beat Le Havre 4-3 at the Vélodrome, a third straight league win. Bruno Genesio did not let the pleasure linger: he criticised the end of the match and the lack of humility of two young players, named by Le Parisien as Abdallah and Kamissoko. Genesio sees something deeper: a fear of being caught once the team leads, and a starting eleven taking shape without him calling it settled.
Sunday’s teamsheet is taking shape: Abdallah, one of the two young players told off by Genesio, is listed absent from the Ligue 1 probable lineups, Cornelius (hip) is still out and Moumbagna returns to the group. Gouiri, away from Friday’s collective session for personal reasons, is expected available and starting, with Hojbjerg back from injury in midfield. Meïté, ill, stays a doubt without a confirmed absence.
The European setbacks came in the previous fortnight, 0-1 against Olympiakos and 0-1 in Graz: since 10 October, OM have played five matches, Toulouse three. The next Europa League matchday falls on 4 and 5 November.
Toulouse hang in there, and the Vélodrome suits them
The TFC travel on the back of 2-2 at Monaco, 3-0 at Le Mans and 0-0 with Troyes, still unbeaten away from home: three draws and a win, and fourteen years without a win in Marseille to end. For his first visit to the Vélodrome, Askou expects a match “no doubt very different” from the Troyes one and sees spaces to exploit. Messali (thigh) is out for six to eight weeks, “he will not play again until December”, while Oppong (calf) is back in a squad of twenty-one.
Recent meetings reassure both camps: OM are unbeaten in the last five, but Toulouse have snatched two draws, including a 2-2 at the Vélodrome in November 2025.

The price and the bet: Marseille to win, 0.25 units
The market hesitates: Marseille have drifted from 1.96 at the open to 2.04 at best, Toulouse have shortened from 3.82 to 3.55, and the draw trades at 4.09. At 1.98 with Betano, the market gives Marseille the win barely more than once in two: 50.5%. I make it 54%: three league wins in a row, a Vélodrome that pushes even with the North stand closed, and an opponent that lost control late on against Troyes. The gap is worth a stake of 0.25 units, $25; the stake in units follows the edge, measured but real. Marseille win in regulation time: +$24.50. A draw or a Toulouse win: -$25. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
The bet wins if OM carry their league momentum and hold their lead to the end, the lesson of the 4-3 over Le Havre. It loses if the game closes up and turns on a detail, like those two recent draws against Toulouse. This Marseille win goes into my public record.
