Tirante vs Bellucci: the favourite is fairly priced, the margin in games is not

The second and final qualifying round of the Rolex Paris Masters opens Sunday morning on Centre Court: Thiago Agustin Tirante, the third seed, against Mattia Bellucci, the 13th, according to the official draw. The loser goes home; the winner walks into the main draw on Monday.
Tirante lives on his first serve
On Saturday the Argentine beat Zachary Svajda 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in 1 hr 48, with twenty-three aces counted by Tennis Majors. His match lives there: 79.3% of service games won across his last ten outings, 17% of return games taken. Around that, the run is grey: four wins and six defeats in the period, heavy losses in Vienna, Beijing and Shanghai.
Bellucci’s streak, read with care
The Italian beat Pablo Carreño Busta 6-1, 7-6 in 1 hr 35 on Court 1, eleven aces to his name. Eight wins in his last ten matches, five of them at the Jinan Challenger: the streak is real, it weighs less on a Masters 1000 court, and his numbers for the period (87.8% of service games won, 24.7% of return games taken) are flattered by Challenger opposition. Adjusted to the surface, his serve still holds up; it is the rest that needs discounting.
A rivalry already played in January
They have met twice: Tirante in Milan in 2023, Bellucci in Manama in January, 6-4, 6-4. On indoor hard, a quick surface where serve counts, the ranking gap (Tirante 54th, Bellucci 86th) says less than current form. Bellucci spent thirteen minutes less on court on Saturday: a scheduling detail, not a physical diagnosis.
The winner is fairly priced, the margin is not
At 1.50 with Betway, on overnight odds, Bellucci is the favourite; Tirante trades at 2.60. The winner market has read this match well, and I find nothing to take there. The line that interests me sits on another market: Bellucci -2.5 games at 1.79 with 1xbet.
I give Bellucci a 61% chance of finishing at least three games clear of Tirante; at 1.79, the market sees 52.2%. In practice: a win of the 6-4, 6-4 kind or cleaner takes the bet, $39.50 net on a $50 stake; any gap under three games loses the stake. A retirement or a walkover refunds it.
The stake is 0.5 units: my 61% against the market’s 52.2% leaves a small edge, and half a unit is what the site makes of it. My scenario: Tirante holds as long as his first serve lands; one break a set is all Bellucci needs, and the margin builds there.
The Kelly calculator shows how half a unit comes from a small edge, not from certainty. This bet joins my public record, whatever happens. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
