On Thursday night, Bournemouth beat AC Milan 3-0 and moved to nine points from three Europa League games. On Sunday at Old Trafford, the side sitting fifteenth in the Premier League on six points take on Manchester United, thirteenth, seven points, one win in seven league games. The market favourite is still the team that cannot win.

The paradox is in the prices: United, opened at 1.90, have drifted to 2.24 with 10BET; Bournemouth have tightened from 4.07 to 3.35. My draw-or-Bournemouth double chance, taken at 1.85 with 1xbet on Thursday, is now down to 1.74: the market has joined part of my reading.

Three 1-1 draws and a thrashing at Como

In the league, United have signed three 1-1s in a row: Fulham, Tottenham, Leeds. In the Champions League, the temperature rises: 0-2 at Atlético on 13 October, then 1-4 at Como on the 21st, a performance Michael Carrick called “unacceptable”. Bruno Fernandes criticised his coach’s tactical choices; Carrick replied: “if you don’t come back to defend, you don’t win.” Carrick remains in charge on Sunday, with no decision taken beyond this match, and no sanction is expected for Bruno Fernandes. On the pitch, Leny Yoro is available again and could return to the back line; Zirkzee could start, Cunha dropped after Como.

Bournemouth, three out of three in Europe

Their first league win came on 18 October, 2-0 against Sunderland, a week after the 1-5 at Chelsea. On Thursday, AC Milan were the ones beaten 3-0: a Kluivert penalty in the eighth minute, another from Tavernier, an Adli free kick, and Maignan sent off. Marco Rose has a group that scores wherever it goes, and his two Thursday scorers are back from injury. At Old Trafford, Bournemouth will not arrive as tourists.

The treatment room is mostly on United’s side

  • Manchester United: Dorgu, Mainoo, Sesko, Shaw and Ugarte are out.
  • Manchester United: the press reports Heaton, L. Martinez and Rashford as out; the data leaves their status doubtful.
  • Bournemouth: Araujo, A. Scott and Tóth are out, Tóth forced off injured on Thursday.
  • Bournemouth: Kroupi (foot) is a doubt.

Old Trafford does not frighten Bournemouth any more

United’s last two home games against Bournemouth brought a 0-3 (December 2024) and a 4-4 (December 2025). The 2-2 of last March completes the sequence: the Cherries have scored at least twice in each of the last three meetings. It is not a ground that protects, it is a ground that opens up when the team occupying it drops back.

Draw or Bournemouth at 1.85: 1.25 units

I split the outcomes like this: 40% for a United win, 28% for the draw, 32% for Bournemouth. Draw or Bournemouth makes 60%; my price is locked at 1.85 with 1xbet from Thursday, and the double chance is now down to 1.74. What edge remains is thin, but it points my way. The stake: 1.25 units, $125. Bournemouth win or draw: +$106. Manchester United win: -$125.

The bet wins if United stay this side that lets equalisers and defeats slip; it loses on an immediate reaction, an early goal that opens a closed Old Trafford. Marco Rose is preparing for exactly that: he expects an “angry and intense” United, a team with nothing left to lose. A reaction will come one day; I am not betting that it picks this very match.

The staking method is in the Kelly calculator, and this bet joins the others on my public record. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.

0-3: Bournemouth never even needed the draw

The bet was draw or Bournemouth; Bournemouth settled everything. 0-3 at Old Trafford, the same score as their previous visit in December 2024, and United follow three 1-1 league draws with a home defeat: eight games, one win, and the market’s favourite beaten on their own ground.

Won: 1.25 units on draw or Bournemouth at 1.85, so +$106 on the bankroll. I had the double chance at 60%; Bournemouth did not even need the draw to validate it.
