Troyes last scored in Ligue 1 on 6 September. Since then: 0-2 at Lille, 0-2 at Angers, 0-2 against Marseille on 11 October. Three league matches, no goal, 17th place and four points.

Lens sit 10th with seven points and come out of a full week: 2-1 against Lyon on 9 October, 0-2 against Sporting in the Champions League on the 13th, then the trip to Bruges scheduled for the 21st. Three matches in eight days, for a squad already stretched.

An attack at a standstill, an absentee list settled

Nine goals worse off than their opponents after six rounds: Troyes still concede and no longer score. No verified Troyes statement since the press conference before the Marseille game; three names sit on the league’s absentee list: Boura (hip), Ouzenadji and Titi; Koné, ruled out by the press on Friday, is officially out, and Boura, doubtful, does not start.

The last five matches of each side:

Lens have the squad, not the freshness

The 2-1 over Lyon gave the group some confidence back, and no more than that. Against Sporting, the club’s match report describes Lens chances; the score stayed 0-2. On Friday, Cahuzac claimed “a full squad apart from the long-term absentees”. Then the fixture pile-up; the official line-ups settle the sorting:

  • Nawrocki (cruciate ligament, season over) and Sima (thigh, return estimated for the end of November), the two long-term absentees;
  • Gradit, who trained on his own all week, is not in the eleven;
  • Chávez, hoped for in the predicted line-ups, stays out (thigh);
  • Udol, sent off in the 84th minute against Lyon and suspended, is not on the sheet.

Lens set up in a 3-4-2-1 without Gradit or Chávez; a rebuilt back line shows up in the patterns, and their recent league trips have stayed tight: 1-2 at Monaco, 2-2 at Le Mans.

Lens favourites at 1.87, the debate is the goals

At 1.87 with 1xbet, the market gives Lens a touch more than one chance in two; Troyes stay at 4.30 and the draw has slipped to 4.10 with Betano. I see no edge to take on the straight win, and Lens drawn-no-bet at 1.40 paints a favourite with no margin.

On the goals, the market leans the other way: over 2.5 at 1.64, under 2.5 at 2.465 with the same bookmaker, a price frozen since 10 October. At that price, the market gives under 2.5 goals roughly two chances in five. I make it 43 per cent.

Under 2.5 goals: half a unit, and the script that beats me

The line-ups cut both ways: Lens start Thauvin, Sotoca and Édouard, Troyes stay on Ripart and Nkada in a 4-2-3-1. Troyes have not scored in any of their last three league matches, and Lens arrive between a European night and the trip to Bruges: two sides with reasons to keep this game tight. I take under 2.5 goals at 2.465 with 1xbet: from zero to two goals in normal time, the bet pays $73.25 on a $50 stake; from three goals it loses. Stake: 0.5 units. My 43 per cent barely clears the market’s 40, and the staking method gives a gap that small no more than it deserves.

This bet loses the day the game opens up. Strasbourg put six past Troyes in September, and the French Cup tie against this same Lens finished 2-4 in February. I am weighing a trend, not promising a script; the result goes into my public record, won or lost. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.

Four goals at the Stade de l’Aube, and the bet is lost

Lens won 3-1 at the Stade de l’Aube. Four goals in total: the game opened up, and that was the scenario that lost my bet. Troyes scored for the first time in Ligue 1 since 6 September. Lens, on the third match in eight days, needed no freshness to put three past a defence that keeps conceding.

The pick is lost: under 2.5 goals at 2.465 with 1xbet, 0.5 units, $50 off the public record. By kick-off the same price was paying only 2.32: I had the better price, not the better script. I was weighing a trend, not a promise, and it did not hold.
