Fenerbahce dropped 99 on Zalgiris; a short-handed Partizan comes to Istanbul

Fenerbahce beat Partizan 74-65: nine points of margin, eleven needed. My Fenerbahce -10.5 at 1.82 is lost, $25 to the record.

Four wins in five rounds, and a full rotation

Ninety-nine points. Fenerbahce handled Zalgiris on Tuesday night at the Ülker Spor ve Etkinlik Salonu, 99-80, their fourth win in five EuroLeague rounds. Shane Larkin was available; the only absentee on the Turkish side was Onuralp Bitim. On Thursday the same arena hosts a Partizan side that came out second-best against Panathinaikos and closed an open practice session on Wednesday before flying to Istanbul.

Recent history points the same way: Fenerbahce won both 2025-26 meetings, 81-78 at home on 25 February and 99-87 in Belgrade, and four of the last five meetings. None of those games was decided by more than twelve points. That is written down, and it is why I look hard at the margin before committing.

Peñarroya knows what is coming

Partizan’s coach, speaking to the press, called Fenerbahce “one of the most important clubs in the league, aiming for the Final Four” and sent the transfer questions packing: “not a question for me”. His roster is the one arriving reduced, and for good.

At 1.18 the winner teaches nothing; the margin does

The market has done its reading: Fenerbahce sit at 1.18 with BetMGM, down from an opening 1.21. At that price, I pass. The main handicap line, -11.5, is quoted at 1.92/1.97, and the game total of 165 points gives the cruising speed bookmakers expect from the Turks. I am shopping for the margin, one line below, at a price that still means something.

My pick: Fenerbahce -10.5 at 1.82

I want the margin, not the winner. Fenerbahce -10.5, taken at 1.82 with Betano on Wednesday evening. I make a win by eleven points or more 57% likely, against 53.5% for the market’s median line: a real but narrow edge. The site blends my estimate with the market’s and trims it further: minimum stake, 0.25 units, or $25. In plain terms: a win by eleven or more pays +$20.50 net; anything else costs the $25. Overtime included.

What stops me going bigger: the last two meetings finished at three and twelve points. A depleted Partizan holds for thirty minutes; the Turkish rotation has no holes to plug. If Stevens sits, the margin comes; if he plays, it is a fight. To size the stake to your own read, the Kelly calculator does the maths, and every result of this bet lands in my public record, win or lose.

Fenerbahce wins by nine; the line wanted eleven

Fenerbahce ground out a 74-65 win at the Ülker Spor ve Etkinlik Salonu, on the very scenario I feared. Partizan led 13-6 after five minutes, Stevens played, and it was a fight. This fixture keeps refusing big margins: the previous two meetings finished at three and twelve points, this one at nine.

At 139 points in total, twenty-six under the line of 165, the pace never took off. Fenerbahce stopped at 74, twenty-five fewer than Tuesday against Zalgiris. A slow game keeps margins short.

The pick is lost: Fenerbahce -10.5 at 1.82 with Betano, the minimum stake of $25 gone. Eleven points of margin were needed; nine arrived. My 57% was too generous, the market made the line 53.5% and read this game better: by tip-off the same line was paying 2.05 and the main handicap had eased from -11.5 to -11. A clean $25 loss, on the record.
