Panathinaikos vs Fenerbahce: two unbeaten teams and a knife-edge derby in Athens
Panathinaikos settled the derby 92-74: my Fenerbahce +4.5 at 1.91 with BetMGM (0.25 units) is lost, $25 on the public record.

Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce arrive in Athens on Thursday with the same record: three wins, no losses. The Greeks have won by 19, 23 and 23 points; the Turks settled for +10, +24 and +10. The last memory of this fixture at the Telekom Center: a Wade Baldwin buzzer-beater to steal an 83-85 win. The rivalry gets another chapter.
Obradović against Jasikevicius, the derby of returns
The bench tells the story already. Zeljko Obradović, Fenerbahce head coach from 2013 to 2020 and champion in 2017, now runs Panathinaikos and crosses Saras Jasikevicius, who wore the Athens shirt from 2007 to 2012 and now runs Fenerbahce. The recent Final Four semi-finals went one apiece: 73-57 to Panathinaikos in 2024, 82-76 to Fenerbahce in 2025, with the title at the end each time. Nigel Hayes-Davis, MVP of that 2025 Final Four, now plays in green against his old club.
Fall expected in the twelve, the Athens injury list moves
The Athens sheet has changed since Monday. The Greek press has Moustapha Fall back in training and expected in the twelve on Thursday, his first game since signing, with a possible return for Rogkavopoulos; Juancho Hernangomez is not in the squad for this one. Kostas Sloukas is still in leg rehabilitation, and Kendrick Nunn, on the right meniscus, will be a game-time call. Nigel Hayes-Davis, over his metacarpal fracture, played in the 90-67 win over Maccabi.
In the other dressing room, Fenerbahce report no injured players, and Shane Larkin, listed ready, made his championship debut last weekend.

What I am watching
- the interior duel: Mathias Lessort on a 20.3 PIR against Key and his 7.7 rebounds;
- Shane Larkin’s first EuroLeague minutes, if the night gives them;
- the double round that follows: Athens travel to Partizan on 13 October, Fenerbahce host Zalgiris.
Panathinaikos at 1.54, the money on Fenerbahce
Panathinaikos trade at 1.54 with 1xbet, out from the 1.52 at opening; Fenerbahce have come down from 2.80 to 2.65 with BetMGM. The visitors +4.5 is 1.91 with BetMGM, and the unders have tightened line after line. The money has gone on Fenerbahce and on low scores: the market expects a closed derby, not a stepping stone for the Greeks.
I keep Fenerbahce +4.5 at 1.91, minimum stake
The bet does not move, the argument has thinned. At the announcement I read a murky Athens injury list against a full squad; half of it has cleared since Monday, and the market saw it coming. I give Fenerbahce 54% to win or finish within four points, overtime included: a derby decided by one or two possessions.
The stake says it: a quarter of a unit, $25, for +$22.75 if it lands, -$25 otherwise. The market has already priced this reading; with no clear edge, the unit stake calculator stays at the minimum. The pick joins my public record, whatever happens. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
92-74: the derby folded in the third quarter
Panathinaikos won 92-74 in Athens, and the derby lasted twenty-five minutes. At 52-47 early in the third, ten unanswered points, with the returning Rogkavopoulos driving them, opened it to 62-47; the gap ran to twenty in the fourth. The one-or-two-possession game I was calling never happened.
Mathias Lessort ruled the paint: 19 points, 8 rebounds, a 30 valuation. Hayes-Davis put 19 past his old club, Francisco 17 with 7 assists, and the Greeks shot 52 per cent to the visitors’ 42. Fenerbahce had two men in double figures, Key (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Juzang (10).
The Athens injury list emptied to the last: Fall played his first two minutes in green (2 points, a dunk), Rogkavopoulos made the turn, all without Nunn, Sloukas or Juancho Hernangomez. My Fenerbahce +4.5 at 1.91 with BetMGM is lost, $25 with it: eighteen points, thirteen and a half too many for the line. The minimum stake said my reserve; the market, at 50.9 per cent, read the night better than my 54. First defeat of the season for Fenerbahce (3-1); Panathinaikos, alone on top at 4-0, sign their best EuroLeague start since 2007-08. The $25 stays on the record.
