In Athens, a Panathinaikos missing five players still trades at 1.20 against Maccabi
Panathinaikos beat Maccabi 90-67 with Hayes-Davis back: my Maccabi +10.5 bet loses, one unit, -$100.

Panathinaikos have started the season like a train: 91-72 against Paris, 102-79 against Villeurbanne. Maccabi have lost everything, 74-84 at ASVEL then 93-109 against Besiktas. On paper, this game is over. On the injury sheet, it is much less so: five Greeks were missing in the last round.
Obradović’s return is being played without five mainstays
Željko Obradović came back to the club fourteen years after leaving it, and he is winning: 2-0, by 19 and 23 points. But the rotation has widened out of necessity: against Villeurbanne, Mantzoukas (16 points) and Rogkavopoulos (12) took the absentees’ minutes, with Moraitis, Kalaitzakis and Mitoglou heavily used. The old coach refuses the excuse: “They are many, but we are not going to cry about them.”
The five players missing at round 2:
- Nunn, torn right meniscus, return announced around round 4;
- Sloukas, in rehabilitation, no date;
- Hayes-Davis, fracture of the fourth left metacarpal, an early return has been mentioned but nothing confirmed;
- Fall, hamstrings;
- Hernangomez, right adductor spasm, about ten days.
The official round 3 injury report is not out yet: I am talking about round 2 absentees, not confirmed absences for Friday.
Maccabi are travelling light as well
On the Israeli side, DiBartolomeo did not make the round 2 trip for personal reasons, Gur Lavi and Hunter were out, and T.J. Leaf has been requalified since that same game. The team trained in Belgrade before travelling to Athens, with a stated goal: a first win of the season in the Athens volcano. The head-to-head leaves work to do: 21-21 over 42 games, but Panathinaikos have won four of the last five.
The price of the game is no longer the winner
On Thursday, a Panathinaikos win costs 1.15 at BetMGM, about 87% of victory probability; Maccabi is at 6.10 at 1xbet. The market has kept leaning towards Athens: the main spread line has moved from 10.5 to 11 points since this page was written. Athens favourite, with a cushion half a point wider.
My bet: Maccabi +10.5, one unit
I take Maccabi +10.5 at 2.00 with 888Sport. The bet lands if Maccabi win or lose by ten points or fewer, overtime included; it loses on a defeat by eleven or more. I give them a 54% chance, the market 49.8: the gap comes from the Greek absentees, who force Obradović to stretch his rotation to spare his mainstays. The calculated stake: one unit, $100. Win, +$100; lose, -$100. Two caveats, to be honest: the two Greek wins were comfortable, and the real state of the Athens squad will only be known with the pre-game report. The Kelly calculator scales this stake to your bankroll; the bet will go through my public record, win or lose. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
Hayes-Davis came back, and the game never happened
The pre-game report confirmed the return of Nigel Hayes-Davis, whose broken metacarpal I had listed among the round-two absentees. With him on the floor, Panathinaikos produced a third straight blowout: 90-67, twenty-three points, still unbeaten.
Maccabi +10.5 at 2.00 loses, one unit, -$100. My case rested on a Greek injury list that would last; it handed a man back before tip-off, and the final margin runs more than twelve points past the line the Maccabi had to cover. The market, which had pushed the spread to 11, read the state of the Athenian squad better than I did.
