Obradović returns to Belgrade, Partizan host an unbeaten Panathinaikos
Panathinaikos ease to 72-55 in a packed Belgrade Arena and stay unbeaten, five wins, never fewer than ten. Eight Partizan points in the third quarter: my Partizan +4.5 loses, -$25.

Željko Obradović left Partizan last season. On Tuesday he steps back onto the Belgrade Arena floor with Panathinaikos, the unbeaten EuroLeague leaders: four wins, a +83 point difference, and never fewer than ten points of margin. Partizan, fifth at three wins and one defeat, are the hosts. My bet stays Partizan +4.5, taken on Monday at 1.83 with BetMGM.
The PAO win everywhere, and by double digits
Panathinaikos beat Paris 91-72, ASVEL, Maccabi and Fenerbahçe 92-74. On Saturday they won 84-59 at Patras in the Greek league. Obradović brushed the emotion aside: the game against Partizan is not the most important one, only the team counts. His rotation rebuilds itself: Lessort, round four MVP, averages 22.8 PIR, Moustapha Fall played his first EuroLeague game in round four, and Juancho Hernangómez, back after four rounds away, travels to Belgrade.
The head-to-head numbers lean towards Athens line after line, and the last five meetings went to the PAO four times. Only the steals column goes to Belgrade; the Serbian press adds rebounding and execution against an organised defence to Partizan’s watch list.
| Partizan | Panathinaikos | |
|---|---|---|
| Points per game | 86.5 | 93.8 |
| Collective PIR | 106.5 | 114.8 |
| Three-point shooting | 34.4 % | 39.1 % |
| Steals per game | 11.3 | 8.3 |
| Rebound margin | -5.5 | +5.5 |
Partizan only lose in Madrid
Three wins and one defeat: Milan beaten 92-76, Paris 92-79 on the road, Bayern 86-84 in Munich, and an honourable loss in the Spanish capital, 86-76. In the ABA league, Vienna were folded 99-78 with Carlik Jones rested and 15 points from Lauvergne, and Mega Superbet went down 83-59. The guard, 18.8 points and 6.2 assists a game, 24.8 PIR, arrives fresh. Peñarroya pointed to inconsistency over forty minutes and defensive trouble on the pick-and-roll after the Vienna game, in a three-match week that left him only two days to prepare the leaders.
Neither club filed an injury sheet on Monday: the official round five injury report only lists absences already taken.
- For the PAO, Kendrick Nunn (right meniscus) and Kostas Sloukas have missed the first four rounds; Moustapha Fall has played only round four.
- For Partizan, Lamar Stevens (hand) missed rounds three and four, Derek Willis (ankle) is out until the end of the month and Vanja Marinković (Achilles tendon) has yet to play.
- Nigel Hayes-Davis remains a riddle: the league ruled him out for six weeks with a metacarpal fracture, the round five report no longer counts him among the absentees, and the Serbian press credits him with 12 points against Promitheas. Nothing official for Tuesday.
- Jabari Parker remains outside the club’s sporting plans, with his $2.5m contract still to be resolved.
The market has swung to Athens
Panathinaikos trade at 1.381 at 1xbet on Monday, from 1.837 at the open; Partizan have climbed to 3.35 with Unibet, opened at 2.35. At that price, the market gives the PAO about seven chances in ten. No public source explains the move, which lands at the same time as the Athenian returns and the Serbian absences: I note it without interpreting it. The main spread has climbed to 6.5 points, and my +4.5 now trades at 2.33 with Unibet.
Partizan +4.5: 0.25 unit, and I say it
I still give 56 % to Partizan winning or losing by four points or fewer, overtime included. My bet is recorded at 1.83 with BetMGM, taken on Monday; since then the same +4.5 trades at 2.33: the market rates the line harder to cover than at my recording, and I stand by my read. The arena, the rest for Jones and the emotion of Obradović’s return can shake any favourite; the Athenian depth does not vanish. Blended with the market, my edge was nil: minimum stake, 0.25 unit, $25, won +$20.75, lost -$25. The staking method is here, and every bet joins the public record. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
The arena stood for Obradović, PAO did the rest
The Belgrade Arena gave Željko Obradović a standing welcome before tip-off, then Athens took the night: 72-55, a fifth win in five, again by double digits. Partizan scored eight points in the third quarter. The Hayes-Davis question is settled: he played, 14 points, top scorer of the game, and Mathias Lessort pulled down 9 rebounds: the full box score.
My bet is lost: Partizan +4.5 at 1.83 with BetMGM, 0.25 units, -$25. The line asked for a defeat by four at most, the game finished seventeen: 16-16, 12-19, 8-20, 19-17, the gap opened in the second quarter and never closed. The market had hardened my line before me: taken at 1.83 on Monday, the same +4.5 was 2.05 at tip-off, with Partizan pushed from 2.35 to 3.35.
