Ligue 1 returns on Saturday after a three-week break, and the leader plays at home. Monaco sit on 13 points, four wins and a draw in five games; Toulouse are 14th on 5. The last official game for both clubs dates from mid-September: a 2-1 Monaco win over Lens, a 3-2 Toulouse win over Le Havre.
Three weeks off, one friendly each
Neither side has played since mid-September. Both ran out a friendly on 3 October: Monaco beat Pisa 2-0, Toulouse lost 2-3 to Pau. I read nothing into those scores: a warm-up game mid-break tells you nothing about the restart.
What the September numbers say
Across the last four league games of each team, five of eight went over 2.5 goals. Monaco scored seven and conceded three; Toulouse scored seven and conceded the same. The Toulouse press describes an Askou side more pressing and more on the ball, at the cost of a more exposed back line. Toulouse’s last visit to Louis-II ended 1-0 to Monaco, and April’s meeting in Toulouse finished 2-2.

Without Brunner, who finishes?
Monaco’s eleven is out: Hrádecký in goal, Vanderson, Sadibou Sané, Dier and Flávio Nazinho at the back, Camara and Zakaria in midfield, Diop, Golovin and Detourbet behind Abline. Brunner, suspended for two matches after his goal celebration in Strasbourg, misses the game. Fati, uncertain all week, is not in the eleven, and neither are Minamino and Balogun, whom the press had back; Coulibaly, injured, and Idumbo stay out with them.
At the other end the Toulouse back line is reshaped, as the local press expected: without Nicolaisen, still out with a calf injury, Messali, Koumbassa, McKenzie and Tapé line up in front of Restes, with Cásseres and Vossah in midfield and Tengstedt, Jørgensen and Azizi behind Russell-Rowe. Sigur, back late from international duty, does not start.
Three goals rather than a winner
The market makes Monaco a clear favourite: 1.645 with 1xbet, the draw at 4.47 and Toulouse at 5.50, prices recorded on Wednesday 7 October, barely moved since. I do not dispute that; at this price I would rather read the game in goals. Over 2.5 sat at 1.648 with the same bookmaker on Wednesday: the odds imply 60.7 per cent, I put three goals or more at 64, and the best price on the market has since come down to 1.57 with 10BET: the market has moved my way.
Both teams to score trades at 1.65 with BetMGM. When the yes price drops under 1.65, the market expects chances at both ends. My winning script: Toulouse press high, Monaco play out quickly and punish the space, and Toulouse score at the other end; the lineups that just dropped contradict nothing in it, both sides set up to score. Monaco have scored in their last four league games, Toulouse in three of their last four. The losing script exists too: with neither Brunner nor Fati starting, a locked game ends 1-0 and my bet dies with the favourite’s price.
The stake follows a modest gap: 0.75 units, or $75, for $48.60 net if three goals land, and $75 gone at 0, 1 or 2 goals. The Kelly calculator sets out the staking rule, and the public record settles every pick at the result. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
2-2: no winner, four goals
Monaco and Toulouse left Louis-II at 2-2. The leader dropped two points at home; both sides scored, as I read it, and the total stopped at four goals.
Over 2.5 goals, taken at 1.648 with 1xbet for 0.75 units ($75), wins: $48.60 net. I had taken the total over the winner: the draw came, the bet cleared. The losing scenario I had quoted, a closed game ending 1-0, never happened.
