Ansu Fati free of injury at last: “The best is yet to come” before Lorient vs Monaco
Ansu Fati scored on his first start of the season in Sofia (2-1). The day before leaders Monaco travel to Lorient, the Spaniard promises the best is yet to come.

On Thursday in Sofia, Ansu Fati found the net for his first start of the season, in Monaco’s 2-1 Conference League win. On Saturday, the day before the trip to Lorient, the Spaniard described an autumn of setbacks and “small injuries”.
“I am very happy to be back, really. I felt very good in the last match. The objective now is to keep building playing time and to keep improving,” he said at a press conference. On the months away from the pitch: “The hardest thing is not being able to be on the pitch. I would give everything I have never to be injured again. I work every day to reduce the risks as much as possible, and I hope all this will finally stop. I think the best is yet to come.”
The Moustoir, where Lorient await the leaders
L’Équipe devotes two articles to the forward, describing him as “almost like a new signing” and listing him alongside Takumi Minamino and Mohammed Salisu among the three comeback players in the Monaco squad. For Foot Mercato, the time has come to turn the page and find some consistency in Monaco colours.
On the pitch, the return could hardly be better timed. Top of Ligue 1 with 14 points from six matches, Monaco travel to the Moustoir, where Lorient beat them 3-1 in September 2025 and completed the double with another 3-1 at the Stade Louis-II in January. Ninth on 8 points, Lorient beat Paris FC 1-0 last weekend. On Saturday, the Monaco win was priced at 2.10 with 10BET: the market makes the leaders favourites, but cautious ones.
