Arsenal fear new Bukayo Saka injury after 10-minute exit in Munich, with Everton next

Bukayo Saka lasted ten minutes at Bayern Munich before a thigh problem ended his night, and Mikel Arteta made no attempt to hide his concern three days before Everton visit the Emirates. No timeframe has been put on the injury.

Bukayo Saka lasted ten minutes in Munich. The winger felt his thigh after an innocuous pass and made way for Eberechi Eze on Wednesday night, before Bayern Munich and Arsenal split the points (2-2).

Speaking to TNT Sports, Mikel Arteta did not try to soften it: a player coming off with sharp pain is never a good sign, it did not look good at all, and Arsenal will have to wait and see. So Foot, from his press conference, wrote only of the leg without naming the muscle, and nobody has gone further: as I write, no timeframe, no announced examination, no medical statement from the club.

A treatment room that was filling up anyway

Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates on Saturday, 3pm UK time. Second in the Premier League on 18 points, they will do it without Saliba (back), Hincapié (ankle) and Tzolis (hamstring), with Saka now a doubt.

Some of the criticism around the team has been about style: it comes from a minority, Arteta has answered, and his goalkeeper Raya does not recognise himself in the word.

Arteta’s substitutes have decided Arsenal’s last three league wins, Madueke at Nottingham Forest and Guimarães against Sunderland and then Leeds, Opta notes in The Guardian, and 18 winning goals have come off the bench since December 2019. Arteta called Wednesday’s draw one of the best levels his side have played at. Saka himself came on against Lille eight days earlier, scored one and set one up.

Odds taken before the injury

Before Saka went off, an Arsenal win traded at 1.46 with 1xbet, the draw at 5.00 with 10BET and an Everton win at 8.50 with Unibet: the market gives Arsenal the victory two times in three. Everton arrive eighth, on ten points, after going down 0-2 to Chelsea. If Saka misses the kick-off, those prices move, and our Arsenal v Everton prediction tracks every market until Saturday.
