Lens leave their away end empty for the derby at Lille after the Bruges incidents
Lens told their supporter groups by email on Monday morning that no tickets will be sold for Friday’s derby at Lille: the away end will stay empty. The club acted before any authority ban, five days after flares interrupted the Champions League trip to Bruges.

The northern derby will be played on Friday without a single Lens supporter. In an email sent to supporter groups on Monday morning, the club announced it will leave its away section at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy closed: no tickets will go on sale, the away end will stay empty.
A club decision, before any ban
“Following the events during the trip to Bruges, I inform you that RC Lens has decided to leave its away section closed at Lille this weekend. There will be no ticket sales for the derby and the away end will remain empty,” wrote Arnaud Goubelle, the club’s supporter liaison officer, in the email seen by RMC Sport. Foot Mercato reports the decision as taken and notes that no prefectural order currently bans Lens fans from travelling. So Foot, relying on La Voix du Nord, still writes in the conditional: no club statement has followed.
Flares in Bruges, a fine after Prague
The reason goes back to last Wednesday: in Bruges, in the Champions League, flares lit and then thrown from the Lens away end temporarily interrupted the match, which Lens lost 0-3. The club had already been fined by UEFA after similar incidents in Prague in September. Foot Mercato and So Foot both mention possible further disciplinary sanctions, up to a closed away end for future European trips; nothing has been decided yet. “Festive pyrotechnics are not a crime […] repression has no effect on how many are used,” replies the Red Tigers 1994 ultra group, quoted by So Foot.
What it changes for the bet
On Friday Lille host Lens in a Pierre-Mauroy with an empty away end: 15 points for second-placed LOSC against 13 for Lens, seventh, who have beaten Lyon, Troyes and Paris FC in their last three league games. The market leans home, odds as of Monday: Lille at 2.45 with 1xbet, the draw at 3.70 with BetMGM, Lens at 3.00 with 1xbet. At 2.45, the market gives Lille a win two times in five. Recent derby history points the same way: Lille have won four of the last five meetings between the two clubs, including a 3-0 at the Pierre-Mauroy in April. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
