Lyon to be without playmaker Pavel Šulc for around four months after meniscus injury
Lyon announced on Sunday that playmaker Pavel Šulc needs meniscus surgery on his right knee and will be out for around four months. His 2026 is over, on the eve of Monday’s top-of-the-table trip to PSG.

The Lyon statement landed on Sunday: hurt in training this week, before the trip to Hoffenheim, Pavel Šulc has a meniscus lesion in his right knee. The club says the Czech international will have surgery soon and should be out for around four months. Four months from late October: his 2026 is over.
The operation will take place in Czechia according to RMC Sport; the club statement does not confirm it, promising only to support the player through his recovery. No exact date has been given.
The leaders lose their playmaker
Šulc, 25, is the playmaker of a Lyon side sitting top of Ligue 1 after seven rounds, level on 14 points with PSG. Since arriving in the summer of 2025 he has played 48 matches for 16 goals and 10 assists, including two goals and three assists in ten games this season. Without him, Lyon lost 0-3 at Hoffenheim in the Europa League on Thursday.
A Monday night clash hit on both sides
On Monday at the Parc des Princes the top two meet with full treatment rooms. Lyon travel without Openda, Tagliafico and Ouedraogo, and now without Šulc; PSG are still without Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia, Marquinhos and Mendes. The market still gives Lyon little: 6.88 for an away win at 1xbet on Sunday, 1.47 for PSG.
