PSG v Lyon moved to Monday, same night as the Ballon d’Or

The biggest game of Ligue 1 round 8 will now be played on Monday 26 October at 8.30pm at the Parc des Princes, on the same night as the Ballon d’Or, after an order from the Paris police prefecture.

The Parc des Princes will wait another 24 hours. The LFP confirmed on Friday that PSG v Lyon, the biggest game of Ligue 1 round 8, has been moved: scheduled for Sunday 25 October at 8.45pm, it will now be played on Monday 26 October at 8.30pm.

In its statement, the league took note of the order from the Prefecture of Police banning the fixture on Sunday and, in agreement with Ligue 1+, moved the match to Monday 26 October at 8.30pm. The broadcast stays on Ligue 1+.

The league wanted to play on Sunday evening, according to Foot01, but a busy Paris weekend, with protests planned for Saturday and an NFL game at the Stade de France on Sunday, left it no room. The prefecture had already asked for a postponement to be considered on 21 October, Le Parisien reported. For the same reason, Toulouse v Troyes has shifted from Saturday to Sunday, and Montpellier v Red Star in Ligue 2 has been pushed back.

Lyon, top of the table, on Ballon d’Or night

The fixture is unchanged: Lyon, first on 14 points after seven rounds, visit PSG, second on the same total. Kick-off on Monday now clashes with the Ballon d’Or ceremony, also scheduled for that evening.

Both teams gain a recovery day. Lyon lost 3-0 at Hoffenheim in the Europa League on Thursday, while PSG beat Barcelona 4-2 in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The market will keep adjusting until Monday night

PSG remained heavy home favourites on Friday, at 1.47 with Betano. The 24-hour shift mostly moves schedules: prices will keep updating, and our match preview follows the market through to Monday evening. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
