World Cup 2030: Netflix to stream all 104 matches in Spain and Andorra

Netflix announced on Tuesday that it has acquired the exclusive broadcast rights to the 2030 World Cup in Spain and Andorra. The platform will carry all 104 matches live, four years before Spain co-hosts the tournament with Portugal and Morocco.

One free match per matchday, the rest behind a subscription

The full competition will sit on Netflix. One match per matchday will be free to watch, and a wider package will go to a free national channel: every Spain match, both semi-finals and the final. The details of the deal, including the name of that channel, will be announced closer to the tournament. The fee and the length of the contract have not been disclosed.

Netflix plans pre-match, half-time and post-match studio shows with a “decidedly Spanish perspective”, a daily round-up on match days and programming before the tournament.

After the Women’s World Cups

The platform already holds the rights to the 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cups. The 2030 tournament will be its first major men’s football competition in Spain. The event will mark 100 years since the first edition, played in Uruguay in 1930, with a handful of matches in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

“Few events bring people together like the World Cup,” said Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s content director. “I was in the stands this year when Spain lifted the trophy, and I witnessed the passion, the pride and the stories that go with it. With Spain hosting the event in 2030, we are thrilled to offer every match to fans in Spain and Andorra.”

For 2030, watching the World Cup in Spain will mean a Netflix subscription, except for the free match of each matchday and Spain’s entire campaign, which the deal guarantees free to air.
