Ankle injury sends Ferran Torres home from Spain duty and back to Paris
Persistent pain in his left ankle has sent the PSG forward home from Spain’s camp: he misses both games of the break. Spain remain heavy favourites; the real question is in Paris.

Ferran Torres left Spain’s camp on Friday, on a statement from the federation. The PSG forward had been carrying pain in his left ankle for several days. It first allowed him to train and play; with the symptoms refusing to clear, the federation withdrew him from the squad “in order to prioritise his recovery” and released him to his club. He misses both remaining games of the break, against Czechia in Oviedo on Saturday, then Croatia in Split on Tuesday.
Spain do not need him to beat Czechia
The absence barely registers for Saturday. Spain have six points from six in the group, a 4-1 win over Croatia and a 3-2 win in England: seven goals in two games. Czechia have lost both of theirs, one goal scored, four conceded. Luis de la Fuente has called up the under-21 forward Carlos Espí.
For the betting picture, at 1.09 with BetMGM on Friday, the market makes Spain winners close to nine times in ten. One forward going home does not move a price in that range.
The real question sits in Paris
Further scans await the forward in the French capital. No timeframe has been announced, and the exact nature of the injury has not been detailed. PSG target the Ligue 1 restart against Le Mans on 10 October, and the federation’s doctors have “remained in permanent contact” with the club’s medical staff since the start of the camp: both sides are watching that ankle.
Anyone betting on Spain v Czechia can keep their plan: the absence changes nothing about the favourite’s standing, and the full match analysis is in our prediction page. The answer that matters for PSG will come from this week’s scans. 18+. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
