Ligue 1: Lyon lose Mohamed Ouédraogo for months after ACL rupture in training

Ligue 1: Lyon lose Mohamed Ouédraogo for months after ACL rupture in training

Mohamed Ouédraogo tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee on Lyon’s training ground this week. L’Équipe broke the news on Thursday morning, with Foot Mercato and RMC Sport confirming it soon after. RMC Sport reports that the exact length of his absence has not been communicated, but the Burkina Faso international will miss several months of competition.

The 23-year-old left-back, a Burkina Faso international, joined from Austrian side SCR Altach this summer. He had started only twice in four Lyon appearances, and came back from international duty without getting on the pitch.

Two absences to absorb before Bollaert

Paulo Fonseca’s side sit second in Ligue 1 on eleven points, behind Monaco, and travel to the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Friday evening (8.45pm in France) for the sixth round. The group goes without Ouédraogo and without Moussa Niakhate, who has a thigh problem; Foot Mercato names Abner Vinicius and Tagliafico as the options on the left flank.

A loss that barely registers in the odds

For the bettor, the loss shows up mostly in squad depth: two starts in five rounds is a rotation role. At Thursday morning’s reading, the best prices on the match showed Lens at 2.53, the draw at 3.81 and Lyon at 2.80 (1xbet), all but unchanged from the opening. At Bollaert, the fifteenth-placed side is rated ahead of the second on this one match.
